How to make hair curly/wavy/frizzy/poofy?

when i straighten my hair, it gets reallyyyy flat. but i noticed that if its wavy/really frizzy or poofy, before i straighten it then it is thicker afterwards. i usually put lots of braids into my hair before straightening it but with braids the top of my hair is very flat and the sides too because the braids flatten it. anyone have ideas how i could get my hair wavy and frizzy? besides blowing it dry with my head upside down, because that isn't enough!

When your hair is wet, try braiding it into sections and let it air dry

also try spraying sum beach spray or another type of conditioner in your hair and scrunch it up into a bun or braids- the tighter the braids the tighter the waves

You could also try using a large barrel iron to create loose large waves =]

actually the same thing happens to me. I don't have any other way of doing it other than head upsidedown, however i do notice that my hair gets much more damaged when i straighten it from the poof rather than doing something else to make straightening easier.

sometimes braids make icky waves, i wouldn't braid it.

tease it at the roots with a comb to give it a poofy effect on the top. makes hair look fuller.

use a curling iron and make sure to spray with hairspray and then scrunch the curls with gel.

that's what i do if i want teased/curly hair.

You could try: Herbal Essences volumizing moose and hairspray. That should give you a good lift.

Get a perm with the spiral rods. Or it may sound like a pain, after you straiten it you could actually curl it again to get just the right wave.

I have to say that I've been happiest with my hair when I finally accepted that it is what it is and got a good haircut to match the texture and wave of my hair, and I actually look pretty good. I look like me, not some fashion model. It would be totally worth it to get a really good haircut and also to get the advice of a good experienced stylist.

thats soo ironic i just braided my hair after it was straightened it made it really tight braids single ones and once i took them out it became really puffy

if that doesn't work i suggest washing your hair with Herbal essence conditioner after it really work it condenses and very voluming NEVER back comb hair./

also use a thick comb

also depends what type of hair u have

well, since you want your hair STRAIGHT a perm is probably out of the question?

But you can always scrunch it.

and also, some beauty stores carry a volumizing thing tht smells really good....you just put it in your hair and it makes it like three times its original volume.

also, buy scrunching gel......and usually it works best if yr hairs wet.

hope this helps =)

A couple things---

Use a texturizer like this one: (John Freida Ocean Hair Spray)

http://johnfrieda.com/products/products....

Set up a humidifier in your room and sit next to it.

Let the shower run on hot for a few minutes and hang out in the bathroom. The humidity will do it.

Run your fingers through it alot, then Brush it out with a "boar hair brush" http://www.nextag.com/boar-brush/search-... and tease it with a pick.

Go swimming in a pool with chlorine, or if you're willing to look crazy, get some pool water in a spray bottle and spritz it on your head befor you go to bed.

Garnier Fructis has a body enhancing shampoo that makes my hair go crazy... you could try that.

But if you do nothing else, Don't condition your hair the night before you straighten it...

You could talk to your hairdresser for options too :)

SAM, there is a heating iron you can use for that if you want then buy it at Walgreen's, K-Mark, Walmart, or some good hair supply store! I believe this will work for you! If not blame it on me and send me the cost of the iron and I'll pay for it! Take care SAM! Have a good NEW YEAR! Jimmy.
