When girls get those thousands of little braids close to their scalp, how do they wash their hair?

I've always wondered this....

Girls, mainly black girls, get their hair extensions in all sorts of little braids close to their scalp. sometimes its fake hair, sometimes its real, but how do these little braids get washed with out them getting all frayed and junk? how does the scalp get washed??

I'm just really extremely curious

Yeah, we're all curious about something we don't really know about. People think that braided hair can't be washed, and that is completely untrue - that's actually unhygienic. Braids are meant to be washed, but some people are uneducated and misinformed. I've done braids, gotten them and I always wash them. I have to admit, it's not like washing my own hair when I scrub wildly, because I have to take caution when I have braids and wash it like it's silk - very carefully and slowly. Then I rinse, and put a good leave-in (like Infusium) and I'm done.

i think they put shampoo in their hand %26amp; then rub it in there hand %26amp; produce foam. Then they put it on

my friend had them...and she had a bottle filled with this oil liquid stuff...and she just spread it around the braids like everyother day.

a lot of times the hair can't be washed. if it is synthetic hair getting it wet will damage it. they have waterless shampoos that clean the scalp w/o water. some people rub seabreeze in their scalp. some go a whole 2+ months w/o washing thier hair.

Pink Lotion.

Go down a hair aisle at walmart, you'll see a big pink bottle. This is what they use on their hair to wash it when they have braids in.

If hair is braided or corn-rowed, it gets washed between braidings when the braids grow out and start to look messy. African hair does not produce nearly as much oil as do caucasians, so oil is added to the hair.
